Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has confirmed that the Union has suspended planned countrywide strike.

Atwoli reiterated that their Lawyers advised him to suspend the strike which had been planned for Tuesday to wait for Tuesday’s court ruling in which TSC is challenging teachers’ salary increment.

He further clarified that their decision to postpone the strike is temporary and their next move will depend on Tuesday’s court ruling. The tough talking Secretary General warned that failure to implement the 50-60 salary increment will force the Union to initiate a mother of all strikes.

Teachers Service Commission has tried to block teachers’ pay increment more than twice but in vain, this may be their list time to protest the decision, if it will not go their way, they have no choice but to obey court decision.
