For a long time, Mike Giden Mbuvi aka Sonko has been a staunch supporter of Jubilee administration, but time has come for the flamboyant politician to call it quits.
The year 2017 is fast approaching and the Nairobi Senator has made his calculations well. For a long time, he has been thinking of unseating current Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero but his advisors, led by Johnson Muthama, told him otherwise.
Sources close to the Senator say he is considering vying at Machakos County as the Governor. They also add that since Alfred Mutua is likely to contest for the seat with JAP ticket, Sonko will not have hard time beating him, considering his record at Nairobi County.
It is now almost obvous, Evans Kidero will defend his seat and anyone intending to beat him should work extremely hard. We hear Dagoretti MP Dennis Waweru will contest against Kidero on a JP ticket, which is the reason why Sonko is not interested in competing with him for the ticket with the same party.
Sonko withdrew his Sonko Rescue Team from Nairobi and he is expected to re-launch it in Machakos in 2016.This is one of the strategies he will use to neutralize Alfred Mutua’s popularity.
The recent remarks from Sonko supporting Raila Odinga on the Eurobond issue is a clear indication he is warming up for CORD.Anytime from now, expect to hear more friendly remarks from the Senator.
