KTN, which is owned by Standard Media Group, has announced that it will start airing English Premier League matches from 06/2/2016.
The station re-branded late last year and intends to increase viewership even beyond East African region. To achieve this, the management resolved to capture the huge number of English Premier League fans by airing the most important matches each weekend.
Currently, only DSTV airs the matches. The monthly subscription fee for a single channel exceeds Sh 4, 000, which is more than what a normal Kenyan can afford.
The entry of KTN will significantly eat into DSTV’s customer base and possibly force the company to reduce subscription fees.
