Sing interpreters are in great demand in Kenya. These professionals, who are very few, are well paid and their star continue shining as several TV stations seek their services.
Few years back, this profession was as useless as egg shell but today it’s a hot cake. In this regard, it’s advisable for Kenyans who wish to pursue education courses to consider special needs education as their first choice.
I have observed that apart from getting employed at TV stations, there are other organizations that offer jobs to these people. United Nations, one of the best paying institutions in the world employs sign interpreters in numbers. Also, children’s homes and mental hospitals do the same. There are also several NGOs that seek their services. Hospitals employ these professionals.
Our research shows that the average salary of a sign interpreter is Ksh90,000-Ksh180,000
