Getting sacked by a company is one of the most traumatizing moments in Kenya especially this time when the economy is not doing well. But there are companies you will work for and be assured of ending your contract without job termination letters.
The worst sectors to work for include, banks, Insurance and manufacturing firms, where your job depends on profitability of the company.
Government institutions, especially nonprofit ones are the best places to work in.If you see an individual getting sacked by a government institution, be sure his conduct was gross. For instance, a teacher employed by the government is offered a permanent and pensionable job. At no time this guy will dream of losing his job, unless he is involved in carnal knowledge or a criminal case that demands he get sacked.
A lecturer at a public university is also assured of a permanent job, he will take loans, mortgages and annuity plans knowing that only death or retirement will force him out of employment.
If you are employed at Central Bank of Kenya, count yourself lucky: your salary will be at least Ksh 150,000 per month and your job will be permanent and pensionable.
In the private sector, people working at Centum, UN, Embassies of UK and America have nothing to worry about, but they are employed on contract basis. It’s hard for an individual working at UN to get sacked before his contract ends.
