Here is Rosemary Odinga’s story about Mwai Kibaki, which no one has ever told us

“1963, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga heads to Wandegeya to look for one Mwai Kibaki. When he got there he couldn’t believe what he saw, Kibaki, then a lecturer at Makerere was wearing a weather beaten suit that you could not tell if it was black, grey, sky blue, white or cream.

His violently disfigured shoes resembled the ones Mwalimu Jini inherited from his great great grand parents. The collar of his shirt was completely eaten into tatters by sweat that it looked like a moper. So Jaramogi called his P.A Onyango Radier & firmly instructed him “Clean this man”. Being a Luo and a man of great taste, Radier got Kibaki to Nairobi and bought him 16 fitting Italian suits, 16 Azzaro shirts and 8 pairs of shoes that would instantly make the devil scream “Omagad”.

Unsatisfied, Jaramogi felt Kibaki should not trek from his relatives house, he immediately instructed Radier to rent him a 2 bedroom house in Bahati estate(Jaramogi was living in Jerusalem) and pay upfront for 42 months. As if that is not enough Jaramogi orders Radier to get Kibaki a Peugeot car from E.A Marshalls.

Thereafter Jaramogi proceeded to appoint Kibaki a KANU Executive and got him appointed as a junior minister for economics or something like that. Fast forward to 2002 when Raila arrived at the airport, and found injured Kibaki on a wheelchair sited in the anus of a KQ plane destined to London. Raila was moved, wept, removed his visa card, swapped it paying for Kibaki to be transferred into the throat of the plane. Raila then followed Kibaki to London & paid his bills there before coming back to finance & launch one of the most powerful campaigns ever witnessed in Africa. Lest you forget, Kibaki never bought a new suit till those 16 suits became too small to fit him…”
