When you are applying for a government job or any other job in Kenya, you must attach one, two or most of the following documents:
1) CERTIFICATE OF GOOD CONDUCT – Ksh. 1,050
Payment For: Not Being a Criminal
2) HELB CLEARANCE – Ksh. 1,000
Payment For: Not having outstanding arrears
3) E.A.C.C CLEARANCE – Ksh. 500
Payment For: Not Being Corrupt
4) Credit Reference Bureau Clearance – Ksh. 2,200
Payment For: Not having Debts or Loans with Financial institutions
TOTAL – Ksh. 4,750
Payment For: Not having a job
If you are applying for a government job, you must present all the documents listed above, otherwise you won’t be shortlisted for interviews. The most important documents include HELB clearance form and Certificate of Good conduct. These two certificates will clear you of debts with Higher Education Loans Board and Criminal record.
The problem here is that when you don’t have a job,the penalty you will pay is Ksh 4,750,which is the money required to process the aforementioned documents. One wonders, where does the government expect a jobless youth to get all this cash for processing documents?!!!!
