There was chock and disbelieve when a Kenyan MP from Western Kenya was found placing a bet for the match between Manchester City and FC Basel.
The MP, who earns over Ksh1.2 million,was spotted analysing matches in a betting site before he placed his bet. While doing so in a corner, one waiter spotted him and started laughing childishly. But the MP minded his own business as he keenly analysed odds for both teams. He eventually placed a bet of Ksh 1,000 for Manchester City, which he lost.
Many people who are aware of the incident wondered why on earth a whole MP was chasing Ksh 300 when he earns Ksh1.2 million!
The MP is not alone. In the past, a senior government official was spotted in his office along Harambee Avenue placing a bet for Arsenal.The Arsenal fan had opened a betting account with a popular site and had hoped to earn Ksh 2,000 from the bet.He eventually lost, though!
