The man who inspired former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, to name his late son Fidel has died. Fidel Castro has died aged 90 after battling several diseases since 2008.
Raila Odinga is the only Kenyan who named his son Fidel after being inspired by the former Cuban leader, who was a communist.
Fidel liberated his country from the hands of the aggressors. But later turned it into a one party state. His more than four decade rule saw Cuba getting alienated from the rest of the world. The worst relationship was between Cuba and USA, which lasted until Fidel handed over power to his younger brother Raul Castro.
Raila Odinga is a controversial Kenyan leader who believes in liberation, something he learnt from former South Africa President Nelson Mandela, Fidel Castro and Julius Nyerere.Due to inspirations he received from the three leaders, he decided to name his son Fidel Odinga, but unfortunately, Fidel died in 2015.
Raila’s eldest son died a mysterious death,which was devastating to Mama Ida,who later confessed political enemies killed Fidel.
The CORD leader is one of few Africans who have lost a mentor, Fidel Castro.
