Beatrice is in pain after her husband destroyed a car she bought this month. The accountant explains what transpired until her sweet husband developed jealous.

“We met at Kaimosi TTC 12 years ago. We were both teacher so our friendship looked perfect. After we graduated, my husband proposed that we start life together.

My husband was the first one to get a job in 2009.I didn’t have time to search for one because I had a newborn baby to take care of. For close to two years he was the one footing all the bills.

Luckily, I got a job in a children’s home as a cashier, this was in 2012.My first salary was Ksh15, 000.Since I had only pursued a diploma in teaching, I was forced to do CPA so that I can fit into accounting profession. I did the course starting with KATC until I completed CPAK in 2015.

In 2016 I applied for a job at an international NGO.I did the interview and managed to get the job. My salary rose to Ksh 37,000.I was happy.

All these time my husband had no problem, he was so supportive. But he started developing a different attitude towards me when I got my second job. When I showed my pay slip, he said,”hii salary ni mimi nitakuwa nashika”.I replied, “what do you mean”.He said since he is my husband he is entitled to anything I own.He even claimed the two cows and two goats he paid my parents meant that he owns me.I said NO.From then his attitude changed.

This year May I was confirmed as an Accountant. My salary increased to Ksh 93,250.This time I didn’t show my husband the payslip but I told him I have been promoted.

Problems started when I suggested we move to a Ksh 15,000 house. He said his Ksh22, 000 salary is not enough. I stopped at that.

This month I was blessed with a car. I saw it good to buy one since in my workplace everyone else has one. Immediately my husband saw the car,he wondered,”nani alikwambia ununue gari, wewe umeanza kukuwa kichwa ngumu”.The reply I gave him resulted to what I didn’t expect.I told him,”this is my money and I would do what I want.He stared at me for some minues, and bitterly responded,”utaniona leo, nitakwuonyesah”.Thought he was just joking. He took a rod that was lying next to the door and started hitting the windows of my car. While hitting it,he said,”nikimalizana nah ii next ni wewe”.I sensed he might kill me and I ran away.

Right now I am living with my friend and I fear returning to my husband.I don’t know the next step to take”.
