Kisii women are regarded as among the best women to marry in Kenya. But there is one thing that destroys the reputation of some, some cuts on their face.
Over the past one week, there was a discussion among some Kisii friends, which went like this:
“Kwamboka is good, but she has two razor blade cuts, on the left side of her cheeks and the right cheek. This woman is a witch”
One of the men in the discussion interjected:
“Aye Ontita, it’s true. One of the neighbors has these two deep marks and we always suspect she is a witch. Her name was even found in that book that was found in Birongo”.
The conversation went on and on. Towards the end, I discovered that almost every Kisii has some marks in the stomach, which were purposely made to protect them from being bewitched. I also learnt that the only people who had such marks on the cheeks are either witches or traditional herbalists.
So, next time, as you interact with a kisii lady, take a keen look at her face and see whether she has the marks. If you were to propose to her and you realize she has the marks, run for your dear life.
