Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) is a rapidly growing institution situated along the Nyeri-Nyahururu road in Nyeri County. The university offers programmes at Diploma, Bachelors, Masters and PhD levels and is currently operating two campuses namely the Main Campus along the Nyeri-Nyahururu Road, in Nyeri and Nairobi Campus at Pension Towers.

The University is seeking suitable candidates to fill the following vacant positions.

ACADEMIC POSITIONS

  1. PROFESSOR – GRADE 15: DEKUT/AC/1/06/17

The position is open in fields of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Telecommunication, power systems, control systems, Mechatronic Engineering, Applied Mathematics and Pure Mathematics.

Requirements

The Candidate must have;

  1. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR – GRADE 14: DEKUT/AC/2/06/17

The position is open in fields of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Applied Mathematics and Pure Mathematics.

Requirements

The Candidate must have;

  • An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized university;
  • At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the University as a Senior Lecturer or Senior Researcher/Industry experience or equivalent

  1. SENIOR LECTURER – GRADE 13: DEKUT/AC/3/06/17

Requirements

The Candidate must;

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

  1. TECHNOLOGIST – GRADE 9: DEKUT/NAC/21/06/17
  • Must be  holders of  Higher  National Diploma  OR Bachelor’s  Degree in Electrical & Electronics

Engineering.

  • At least two (2) years post-qualifications experience for those with Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) for those with National Diploma in a Research or Academic Institution
DEPARTMENT OF MECHATRONIC ENGINEERING

  • Must show evidence of attendance of conferences, seminars and workshops and have demonstrated capability and efficiency in organizing work and discharge of laboratory services.

 

  1. TECHNOLOGIST- GRADE 9: DEKUT/NAC/21/06/17

 

  • Must be holders of Higher National Diploma OR Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent.

 

  • At least two (2) years post-qualifications experience for those with Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) for those with Higher National Diploma in a Research or Academic Institution

 

INSTITUTE OF GEOMATIC, GEOSPATIAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND REMOTE SENSING

 

  1. TECHNOLOGIST- GRADE 7 : DEKUT/NAC/21/06/17

 

  • Applicants must be holders of a Diploma in Cartography & GIS OR Land Surveying (using modern equipment and techniques) from a recognized institution.

 

  • Must be a holder of Higher National Diploma
  • He/she should have at least six (6) years experience in a Research or Academic Institution.
  1. TECHNOLOGIST- GRADE 6 : DEKUT/NAC/21/06/17
  • Applicants must be holders of a Diploma in Cartography & GIS OR Land Surveying (using modern equipment and techniques) from a recognized institution.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years experience in a Research, Academic Institution or Manufacturing Industry.
  1. TECHNOLOGIST- GRADE 5 : DEKUT/NAC/21/06/17
  • Applicants must be holders of a Diploma in Cartography & GIS OR Land Surveying (using modern equipment and techniques) from a recognized institution.
  • Must have a KCSE/KCE certificate with a mean grade of C- minus equivalent.

SCHOOL OF SCIENCE

DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICAL SCIENCES.

  1. TECHNOLOGIST- GRADE 8: DEKUT/NAC/21/06/17
  • Applicants must be holders of a National Diploma or a Bachelors degree in Physics or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Those with a National Diploma must have at least two (2) years experience in a Research, Academic Institution or Manufacturing Industry.

 

INSTITUTE OF FOOD AND BIORESOURCE TECHNOLOGY

  1. TECHNOLOGIST – GRADE 8: DEKUT/NAC/21/06/17
  • Applicants must be holders of a National Diploma or a Bachelors degree in Nutrition and Diatetics, Community Nutrition. Clinical Nutrition or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Those with a National Diploma must have at least two (2) years experience in a Research, Academic Institution or Manufacturing Industry.

INSTITUTE OF TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL STUDIES (ITPS)

  1. TUTOR – GRADE 9: DEKUT/AC/6/06/17
  • The candidates should have Higher Diploma in Building Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Fashion Design and Interior Decoration; at least three (3) years post qualification experience.

OR

  • The candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant technological area from a recognized

University plus (3) years post qualification experience in implementing Technical Training Curriculum.

  1. TUTOR – GRADE 8 : DEKUT/AC/6/06/17
  • Must be a holder of Higher National Diploma in Building Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Fashion Design and Interior Decoration with two (2) post qualification experience.
  1. TECHNOLOGIST- GRADE 5: DEKUT/NAC/21/06/17
  • Must have a KCSE/KCE certificate with a mean grade of C- minus equivalent.
  • Must be holder of Diploma in Building Technology, Fashion Design and interior Decoration.

ADMINISTRATION POSITIONS

  1. REGISTRAR (RTMCL) GRADE 15 :DEKUT/NAC/07/06/17     – RE-ADVERTISEMENT

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should:

  • Have a PhD degree in a relevant field in addition to a Master’s degree.
·  Have  at  least  (4)  years’ experience  in an  institution  of higher learning  or research institution
at a senior level such as Chairperson of department, Dean/Director of School or Comparable
position or as Deputy Registrar in a university.

  • Have at least four (4) publications in refereed journals and must demonstrate a track record in project monitoring and evaluation.

 

  • Have demonstrated experience in preparation of relevant research reports/ data and adequate data analysis experience.

 

  • Have implemented or supervised the implementation of research work and/or been in charge of technology adoption.

 

  • Demonstrate capacity in research proposal writing and fundraising.

 

  • Experience in integrated approach to scaling up of research and development of commercializable products will be an added advantage.

 

  • Successful candidates will be appointed either on permanent terms or on a five (5) year contract

 

  1. DEPUTY REGISTRAR (RTMCL) – GRADE 14 : DEKUT/NAC/08/06/17- RE-ADVERTISEMENT REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Applicants should have at least a Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, Technology, Social Sciences or equivalent in addition to Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.

 

  • He/she should have at least nine (9) years post-masters degree qualifications working experience in an institution of higher learning, research institution, in a government department, public institution or reputable private firm OR have served for at least three (3) years as Senior Assistant Registrar in a university.

 

  • Skills in project monitoring and evaluation

 

  • Ability to collate, analyse data and prepare relevant research reports

 

  • Ability to coordinate production units and marketing of products

 

  • Capacity in research proposal writing and fundraising.

 

  • In addition, the candidate should have implemented or supervised the implementation of research work and/or been in charge of technology adoption.

 

  • Experience in integrated approach to scaling up of research and development of commercializable products will be an added advantage.

 

  1. DEPUTY REGISTRAR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS – GRADE 14: DEKUT/NAC/09/06/17.

 

REQUIREMENTS.

 

  • Must be holder of Master’s Degree in Management, Planning, Human Resource Management, Economics, Public Administration Social Sciences or other relevant field in addition to Bachelor’s

 

Degree. Those with Certified Public Secretaries part III will have added advantage.

 

  • They should have at least nine (9) years post-masters degree qualifications working experience in a University, Research Institution, in a Government Department, Public Institution or reputable private firm

 

  • He/she have thorough knowledge of the University Act, statutes and other regulations related to Academic, Administrative and financial matters of the University.

 

  • They must be familiar with the formulation and provisions of guidelines on planning management of University services and Academic programmes.

They should be a person of high integrity and conversant with modern ICT technology

  1. SENIOR ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (RESOURCE MOBILISATION) GRADE 13 : DEKUT/NAC/10/06/2017

REQUIREMENTS.

  • Must be  holder  of  Master’s  Degree  in  Management,  Planning,  Human  Resource  Management,

Economics, Public Administration, Social Sciences or other relevant field in addition to Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Those with Certified Public Secretaries part III will have added advantage.
  • They should have at least six (6) year’s post-masters qualifications experience in a University, Research Institution, in a Government Department, Public Institution or reputable private firm
  • Have knowledge of fundraising techniques
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience of experience in resource Mobilization.

Applicants should;

  • Demonstrate a clear evidence of proven resource mobilization experience,
  • Show evidence of having developed funded proposals,
  • Be able to manage projects and prepare reports;
  • Be able to work and deliver within strict deadlines.
  1. ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (RESOURCE MOBILIZATION) GRADE 12: DEKUT/NAC/11/06/2017
  • Must be holder of Master’s Degree in Management, Planning, Human Resource Management,

Economics, Public Administration, Social Sciences or other relevant field in addition to Bachelors degree.

  • Those with Certified Public Secretaries part III will have added advantage.
  • They should have at least three (3) years post-masters qualifications degree experience in a University, Research Institution, in a Government Department, Public Institution or reputable private firm.
  1. SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER (TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER) GRADE 11: DEKUT/NAC/12/06/17.
  • Must be holder of Master’s Degree in Management, Planning, human Resource management, Economics, Public Administration, Social Sciences or other relevant field in addition to Bachelor’s degree.
  • Those with Certified Public Secretaries part III or post-graduate Diploma will have added advantage.
  • He/she should be conversant with Modern information and Communication technology.
  • They should have at least seven (7) years experience in a University, Research Institution, in a Government Department, Public Institution or reputable private firm

Applicants should demonstrate ability to;

  • Negotiate inter institutional intellectual property agreement
  • Provide intellectual property rights advice and support to other offices
  • Seek out commercial parties and negotiate appropriate intellectual property commercial agreements (non-disclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, options agreement, license agreements/letters of intent, memorandum of understanding, etc)
  • Constantly evaluate the commercial viability of patented technology with a view to maximizing potential commercialization revenues while effectively managing the associated intellectual property costs and institutional risks
  • Initiate/implement technology prototype development activities, including the preparation of funding proposals.
  • Work closely with researchers and external patents agents to provide value added support for improving the quality of patents applications and managing the patents administration activities.
  1. STUDENT COUNSELOR, GRADE 11: DEKUT/NAC/13/06/17
  • Must be holders of Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, Guidance and Counseling in addition to Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from a recognized institution.
  • At least seven (7) years cumulative relevant work experience in counseling and guidance of students at post-secondary;
  • Must be registered with a relevant professional body
  1. SENIOR LIBRARIAN, GRADE 13: DEKUT/NAC/14/06/17
  • Must be holder of Master’s Degree in Library and Information Sciences, IT or its equivalent qualification in addition to Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university.
  • He/she has published at least two (2) articles in refereed journals or a book.
  • At least Five (5) years post-masters working experience in a well established and automated Library/information centre at the level of a Librarian or its equivalent OR have served for three (3) years at Grade 12

OR

  • PhD degree in Library and Information Studies with no experience
  • Must have headed a section or in charge of Library shifts and should have the ability to handle users in the library and have computer skills
  • Should be member of relevant professional body.
  1. SENIOR LIBRARY ASSISTANT GRADE 8: DEKUT/NAC/15/06/17
  • Must be holder of Higher National Diploma OR Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information studies or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Those with Higher National Diploma should have three (3) years HND post-qualification relevant work experience.

 

  1. ASSISTANT PROCUREMENT OFFICER GRADE 8: DEKUT/NAC/16/06/17.
  • Must be holder of Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing and Supplies Management OR Business

Administration, Economics, Commerce, or its closely related area equivalent from a recognized university with a post-graduate diploma in purchasing.

OR

  • Must be holder of CIPS graduate Diploma
  • Must be registered with relevant professional body
  • Those with experience will have added advantage
  1. ICT TECHNICIAN- ERP PROGRAMMER GRADE 10: DEKUT/NAC/17/06/17
  • Must be a holder of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science/IT or related discipline
  • Experience in ERP development preferably in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 will be an added advantage.
  • Should have Certification in Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Financials, Trade and Inventory, Installation and Configuration, and Development)
  • Proficiency in C/AL programming
  • Knowledge of other programming and web development languages is an added advantage
  1. CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER GRADE 8: DEKUT/NAC/18/06/17
  • Must be holder of Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, or Mass Communications.
  • Those with Bachelor degree in relevant field and post graduate diploma in Journalism or Mass Communication or its equivalent from a recognized University will also be considered
  • Should have at least three (3) years post-qualifications work experience.
  1. GRAPHIC DESIGNER GRADE 6: DEKUT/NAC/19/06/17
  • Must be holder of Diploma in Graphic Design from a recognized institution.
  • Should at least (2) years relevant work experience in a busy institution.
  1. CONTROL ROOM OFFICER GRADE 5: DEKUT/NAC/20/06/17.
  • Applicants must be a holder of Diploma in IT or Computer Science and KCSE Certificate with a mean grade C – or its equivalent.
  • Must be trained in CCTV Management with prior experience with CCTV operations control room.
