Locally Engaged Entry Clearance Assistant Vacancies in Visa Section

The Visa Section will have two or three vacancies at LE IV level commencing early in 2011.  Successful applicants will be recruited on two year renewable contracts. The selection process will include typing and written tests and a competency based interview.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • To quickly and accurately enter all the details on the visa application form onto a computerised database and complete relevant checks on visa applications;
  • To correctly print, pack, label and despatch all decisions and supporting documents to the relevant visa application centre;
  • To ensure that all registry procedures are correctly followed and all visa files are filed away on a daily basis;
  • To undertake verification checks following the correct procedure making telephone calls as required and accurately recording evidence on Document Verification Reports.
  • To assist with correspondence and undertake any other tasks deemed appropriate to support the Visa Section team.

Salary & employment

Employment by Her Majesty’s Government in a locally-engaged capacity, does not afford employees any special immunities or privileges, or protection against legal action. Conditions of service for all locally employed staff in Kenya are consistent with Kenyan laws and regulations.

The starting salary is approximately Ksh 93,000/- per month before reduction of tax and is paid in Kenyan shillings at the appropriate exchange rate.  Where the jobholder is not liable to Kenyan tax the scale will be abated for tax in accordance with HM Treasury rules.
