APHRC seeks to recruit a research assistant to support one of its projects.

Research Assistant Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct Desk Review
  • Mapping of Stakeholders for Key Interviews

Qualifications for the Research Assistant  Job

  • Master’s degree in a social science discipline
  • Background in Health Promotion
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Experience in the organization of field activities
  • Willingness to take initiative, multi-task, and to work collaboratively as part of a team

The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) invites applications for field interviewers for the Early Childhood Development Evaluation (ECD) evaluation.

The overall purpose of the study is to build evidence for a high impact, cost-effective parenting empowerment model for scaling up. The study also seeks to contribute to the evidence base and learning in the ECD sector’s nurturing care framework for children aged 0-3 years, focusing on parenting responsive care and stimulation among vulnerable families.

Qualitative Data Collectors / Interviewers Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood development and nutrition and related areas, from a recognized university;
  • Resident of Nyando sub-Country;
  • Fluency in English, Dholuo and Swahili;
  • Good communication (written and oral) and facilitation skills;
  • Proven experience in research work (quantitative and /or qualitative data collection, analysis and report writing);
  • Available for the orientation on tools in June 2018 and during the whole data collection period i.e. July 2018, July 2019 and July 2020.

Quantitative Field Interviewers Job Qualifications:

  • Should have completed secondary education within the last 6 years and possess a minimum grade C+ in KCSE. (Diploma in ECD and Nutrition will be an added advantage)
  • Be familiar with and proficient in computer applications including use of MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
  • MUST be a resident Nyando sub-Country. (Residents of Awasi/Onjiko are preferred);
  • Be fluent in English, Dholuo and Kiswahili.
  • Be prepared to work full time on the project for the duration of the study.
  • Possess strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and facilitation skills.
  • Have proven experience in research work (quantitative data collection, analysis and report writing).
